WLGA New Member – The Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM)

The WLGA is delighted to welcome The Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM) as a new member.

NALPGAM wasfounded in 1986 and comprised indigenous private companies that operate licensed LPG bottling plants by Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), as key players in the LPG value chain, serving as the closest link to consumers in the distribution and marketing of cooking gas. It is a leading trade association based in Lagos, Nigeria and serves as the umbrella body of all stakeholders in LPG bottling refilling plants in the LPG value chain. The association also operates a dedicated resource center which plays a vital role in capacity building by offering training programmes in all facets of LPG technical operations, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), in accordance with international regulatory standards. Through advocacy and education, NALPGAM is committed to improving LPG accessibility, safety, and efficiency for Nigerian households and businesses while supporting the country’s cleaner energy goals.

NALPGAM is administered by a five-member Board of Trustees and daily run by an elected 11-member Governing Council, presided over by the National President, Mr Oladapo Olatunbosun. Mr Olatunbosun is also the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of DAPIK Enterprises Limited, an Oil and Gas marketing company in Nigeria. He has over 25 years working experience in the Finance, Oil and Gas industries.

The Governing Council is elected for a two-year tenure with a maximum of two-terms. The membership strength of NALPGAM is over 700 registered companies spread across the country and divided into five zonal offices for ease of administration.

As NALPGAM joins the WLGA, the association aims to tap into a global reservoir of knowledge and partnerships, while also showcasing Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape, their members’ resilience and innovation in delivering affordable energy solutions. NALPGAM hopes to benefit from the global advocacy for sustainable energy practices, inclusive growth, and the removal of market barriers that will drive increased LPG penetration across urban and rural Nigeria.

Becoming a member of the World Liquid Gas Association is a proud and strategic step for NALPGAM as it aligns with our commitment to promoting safe, sustainable and inclusive LPG usage. The partnership connects us to a global network of knowledge, innovation, and best practices in the LPG industry. We look forward to enhanced collaboration, access to cutting-edge research, and international policy insights that will help us in, deepening LPG penetration and adoption across Nigeria, and promoting cleaner energy solutions especially into the rural areas that are more prone to the health hazards of cooking with dirty fuels.

The membership will better position NALPGAM to have an international backing in lobbying our government to influence the challenges of high pricing of LPG affordability that is hindering LPG adoption among low-income earners as we focus on more rural penetration to boost utilisation and consumption, strengthening awareness, industry standards, and contribute meaningfully to global energy goals.” Mr Oladapo Olatunbosun, NALPGAM national President and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of DAPIK Enterprises Limited, an Oil and Gas marketing company in Nigeria
