WLGA COP30 Statement – November 2025
Liquid Gas: An immediate contribution to the global challenge of climate change
As the world gathers in Belém, Brazil, for COP30, the World Liquid Gas Association (WLGA), Sindicato Nacional das Empresas Distribuidoras de Gás Liquefeito de Petróleo (SINDIGAS), Asociación Iberoamericana de Gas Líquido de Petróleo (AIGLP) and the global Liquid Gas industry stand united behind one clear message: real climate progress must be both ambitious and inclusive. The energy transition cannot succeed unless it brings people with it — ensuring cleaner, more accessible, and more resilient energy for everyone, everywhere.
The global Liquid Gas industry remains committed to ensuring that the communities, businesses, industries, agricultural, and transportation solutions it supports with lower-carbon, clean, and alternative fuels are not left behind. Today, Liquid Gas, including LPG and renewable Liquid Gas (rLG), are essential sources of lower-carbon energy for billions of people across the world. Served by an agile and resilient supply chain, they can effectively contribute toward achieving low-carbon targets while ensuring that no one is left behind in global energy transitions.
LPG and rLG already deliver clean, portable energy to hundreds of millions of homes, businesses, and communities around the world. In many regions, these sources of clean energy are the difference between relying on polluting fuels and enjoying cleaner air, safer cooking, and modern energy access.
These fuels are not the end of the journey but they are an essential part of the path forward. As renewable electricity generation grows, Liquid Gases provide flexible, storable, and transportable energy that helps fill the gaps where grids do not reach, or when the sun and wind are not available.
The Liquid Gas industry is also evolving. Across the world, producers and distributors are investing in renewable and low-carbon Liquid Gases made from sustainable feedstocks. New technologies are cutting emissions, improving efficiency, and connecting energy users to cleaner solutions faster than ever before.
At the same time, the industry remains deeply committed to safety, transparency, and social responsibility. The industry is working hand in hand with governments, development agencies, and local partners to expand access to clean cooking, heating, and transport thus improving lives while reducing environmental impact.
In Brazil, initiatives such as the Gas do Povo programme demonstrate the social and environmental value of inclusive energy policy. By expanding access to affordable LPG for lowincome households, Gas do Povo is reducing reliance on traditional biomass and high-emission fuels, improving air quality, and supporting national decarbonisation goals. Such programmes show how practical, people-focused energy solutions can contribute directly to the objectives of COP30.
The WLGA, SINDIGAS, AIGLP and the global Liquid Gas industry are committed to supporting the goals of COP30 and addressing the urgent need for climate action. The future of energy must be clean but it must also be fair. LPG and rLG are helping make that possible today, bringing modern energy to people and communities while building a bridge to the renewable world of tomorrow.
At COP30, the WLGA, SINDIGAS and AIGLP stand ready to partner, innovate, and deliver for climate, for people, and for progress.
