Spain: Zaragoza bets on clean energy transition of taxi fleets
The Zaragoza City Council and the Provincial Taxi Association have renewed their annual fleet renewal contract, which aims to promote the sector's energy transition to electric and alternative fuel options.
The agreement, with a budget of EUR 200,000, was signed by the Councillor for the Environment and Mobility Tatiana Gaudes and the Association's President Miguel Izaguirre.
Each license holder who has purchased hybrid, LPG or CNG vehicles during 2024 or 2025 will receive a subsidy of EUR 400. The City Council has allocated a total budget of EUR 200,000.
Gaudes highlighted the solid alliance with the taxi sector, which they continue to support through various agreements whose fundamental pillars include “promoting sustainability and accessibility.”
The agreement now signed aims to finance the incorporation of electric, hybrid, and Autogas vehicles into the taxi fleet and reduce the number of diesel units, thereby contributing to the renewal of the taxi service with more sustainable alternatives.
