SHV Energy and DCC Energy partner to boost European renewable Liquid Gas market

Dutch company SHV Energy and Ireland-based DCC Energy announced they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore sustainable opportunities for generating renewable Liquid Gas (rLG) and renewable and recycled carbon dimethyl ether (rDME).

Both companies will collaborate to identify the best solutions to supply challenges in Europe, which will open the door to production of rLG and rDME at scale, with the end goal is to secure widespread commercial adoption.

“Sustainable fuels will be key to helping reduce the carbon emissions of our customers and to contributing to the global energy transition. We look forward to working together with DCC Energy to help realise the potential of this promising fuel,” said Patrick van der Voort, CEO of SHV Energy.

“It is part of our published strategy to find even lower carbon solutions for our millions of liquid gas customers. We are pleased to partner with SHV Energy on this important project, which will bring us closer to realising our goal to provide cleaner energy to everyone,” commented Fabian Ziegler, CEO of DCC Energy.

The key activities of this alliance will include an assessment of potential projects and investments than can lead to material, sustainable rLG and rDME supply solutions. The parties also plan to involve other industry stakeholders to help boost rLG and rDME production innovation to the benefit of liquid gas customers and the whole sector.
