Shambala becomes UK first festival to use renewable Liquid Gas
Shambala, an annual four-day music festival with took place in August in Northamptonshire, England, has taken another big step towards becoming a fossil free festival, as it become UK first to roll out renewable Liquid Gas across the site.
Kambe Events, organiser of Shambala, has partnered with Festival Gas, which supplies and delivers LPG gas cylinders to major outdoor events, to trial the rollout and use of Calor’s bioLPG.
Chris Johnson, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Shambala, remarked that the festival has taken huge strides in temporary power usage and renewable energy. “We’ve been reducing energy use and have been renewably powered for over a decade – our on-site grid power (which we installed) is renewable.”
He also explained that the trial that has been years in the making and thanks to some open conversations with Festival Gas, this year happened.
Both Johnson and Simon Beale, Director of Festival Gas, called the trial a UK festival first. All the fuel wholesaled on-site by Festival Gas and used by crew catering, shower providers and traders, for example, will be bioLPG.
“We’re proud to fuel Shambala Festival. From sizzling street food to steaming showers and jaw-dropping pyrotechnics, every corner of Shambala is powered by Calor’s low-carbon bioLPG cylinders,” said Calor UK through its social media. “This year, the festival has taken a giant leap towards sustainability by slashing its carbon footprint with our bioLPG.”
