Large fleet operators continue to recognise the value of Autogas

UPS announced a $70 million investment to deploy 1,000 propane-powered delivery trucks and install 50 refuelling stations across its network. The vehicles were introduced primarily on rural routes where fuel availability, range and infrastructure are critical considerations.

The new fleet was expected to:

  • Travel more than 25 million miles annually
  • Displace approximately 3.5 million gallons of gasoline and diesel each year
  • Operate with a range of up to 200 miles on a single tank of Autogas

At the time of the announcement, UPS already operated nearly 900 propane vehicles in Canada and more than 3,150 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles worldwide.

The investment demonstrated how propane Autogas can provide a practical, scalable and readily available transport fuel solution for commercial fleets, particularly in areas where alternative fuel infrastructure remains limited.
