Ecuador: News LPG station will exclusively support taxi drivers in Portoviejo

The taxi sector in Portoviejo has its own Autogas station, a milestone that seeks to alleviate the economic and logistical pressure on drivers. The inauguration was celebrated with an official ceremony on November 14.

This project will directly benefit more than 1,000 LPG taxi drivers in the city, according to the supplier Duragas, providing a faster, safer, and more efficient service. The station features six pumps and a supply capacity of 16,000 kilograms, a figure that represents a significant improvement for the region, surpassing the existing station in Manta, which only has a capacity of 8,000 kilograms.

The official opening was attended by local authorities including the Mayor of Portoviejo, Javier Pincay; the Portoviejo Fire Captain, José Intriago; the Manager of the El Salto Station, Darwin Burgos; the President of the Taxi Drivers Association, Paúl Cedeño; and the Director of Hydrocarbons for Manabí, Hugo Vera.

For the Taxi Drivers Association, the completion of this facility is the result of a year of negotiations, involving daily efforts. “It has been a very tough fight. We have been fighting for this service for a year now, working day after day with official requests and negotiations that were always supported by Assemblywoman Valentina Centeno and Mayor Javier Pincay,” said Cedeño.

Duragas recalled that the new Autogas station is exclusively for regulated public transportation, whether by the National Transit Agency or the corresponding cantonal authority.
