Targa Resources WLGA Leadership Partner Limelight

As a WLGA Leadership Partner, how does your organisation contribute to shaping the future of the Liquid Gas industry, and what role do you see your company playing within the Leadership Partner network?

Targa Resources operates at the intersection of production, infrastructure, and logistics supplying LPG to global energy markets, giving us a unique perspective on the evolving role of Liquid Gas in the global energy system. By investing in gathering, processing, transportation, storage, and export capabilities, we help ensure reliable and efficient delivery of energy to domestic and international markets. Within the WLGA Leadership Partner network, we think it is important to provide commercial and operational insight that helps strengthen industry understanding around supply security, market dynamics, infrastructure development, and the future of global LPG trade. The portability of Liquid Gas is one of the industry’s greatest strengths, but effectively managing supply and trading is critical as global energy demand continues to grow.

What do you see as the biggest opportunities and challenges shaping global Liquid Gas supply and trading over the coming years?

Global Liquid Gas markets are becoming increasingly interconnected, creating both significant opportunities and new challenges for the industry. Growing global demand, evolving trade flows, infrastructure development, and the expansion of export capacity continue to create opportunities for market growth and increased energy access around the world. At the same time, geopolitical uncertainty, shipping disruptions, infrastructure constraints, and market volatility are reinforcing the importance of supply reliability, flexibility, and strong global logistics networks. Successfully navigating this environment will require continued investment, operational engagement, and close collaboration across the value chain. The collaboration that comes through WLGA is critically important as we position our industry for a successful future.

Looking ahead, what key trend or development do you believe will most shape the future of the industry?

The demand for energy continues to grow while the global energy system is becoming more interconnected, more dynamic, and in many ways more exposed to disruption. One of the defining trends for the Liquid Gas industry will be the growing need for flexible and globally connected energy supply chains that can respond quickly to shifts in demand, infrastructure pressures, and geopolitical developments. This flexibility is key to energy security and resilience. As markets continue to evolve, the ability to efficiently move Liquid Gas between regions and applications will become increasingly important, reinforcing the strategic value of infrastructure investment, logistics, and strong international market connectivity.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Recent events in the Middle East have significantly impacted LPG markets.  As the trade works to normalise, new supply routes and diversification will bring opportunities for the trade to develop additional resilience for future disruptions. Out of necessity, there have been lessons learned locally but also globally, with increased engagement from market participants that would not typically be working collaboratively. These developments will broaden and strengthen the industry if we continue to work together.
