From One Chapter to the Next: A Celebration of Our Safety and Business Improvement Goal Chair’s Leadership
Blaise Edja of Oryx Energies, stepped down as Chair of the Safety and Business Improvement Goal in Rio de Janeiro during Liquid Gas Week 2025. Blaise had taken on the role in Amsterdam in October 2019 and helped steer us through the COVID19 pandemic. His legacy is to have overseen a big increase in the focus on safety across the membership with monthly meetings of safety champions from all corners of the world. He helped introduce the safety moment that now precedes all WLGA meetings.
Blaise also oversaw a greater focus on diversity with WINLPG chapters increasing from four to fourteen and WINLPG membership growing from 1,800 to over 4,000. Blase also oversaw the formation of the Youth Council in 2022 which has since become a powerful body bringing new ideas into the industry. Blaise has assured us he will continue to support the activities of the SBI goal and we all look forward to that.
As Baise steps down, Dr. Rachid Majjad of Nat Gas, Oman, steps up as the new chair of the SBI goal. Rachid is a champion of safety having come from an industrial gas background. He will officially take over as the SBI goal chair on 1st January 2026.
