Renault Korea commits to Autogas vehicle development
Renault Korea has signed a new agreement with the Korean LPG Association in order to jointly develop Autogas cars at Renault Technology Korea in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do. Both parties have agreed to apply direct injection (LPDi) technology to passenger models.
The agreement will see the duo jointly focus on advancing technologies for the country’s first passenger vehicles equipped “with the most advanced LPDi engines,” according to Renault Korea.
As part of the partnership, Renault Korea and the Korean LPG Association will build a prototype test vehicle by the end of 2024, and will then undergo the verification processes to assess emissions levels, fuel efficiency, and engine durability. Based on the results, the two companies will decide whether to begin mass production.
In addition, they plan to encourage policies and promotional projects for joint development.
"Renault Korea, which has been leading the market trend with products that are one step ahead, will continue to introduce various eco-friendly products to the market that customers can satisfy, as in the case of developing passenger cars equipped with LPG direct injection engines," said Choi Sung-kyu, head of Renault Korea Research Institute.
