Italian drivers can now apply for a new incentive to convert cars to Autogas
The Ministry of Business and Made in Italy (MISE) announced that from 1st July 2024 it is possible to access the “Ecobonus – Retrofit” initiative. Drivers can register to receive this incentive which will help purchase and install LPG or CNG fuel systems on M1 category vehicles with an environmental class of no less than Euro 4.
The incentive is promoted by the MISE and managed by Invitalia.
For natural persons who purchase and install new LPG or CNG kits on M1 category vehicles, the contribution varies depending on the type of system: for LPG systems the incentive will be equal to EUR 400.
The new incentives are available for orders and installations of systems conducted from the effective date of the Prime Ministerial Decree on 20th May 2024, as published in the Official Journal on 25th May 2024.
The mechanism is as per usual: installers book the incentive on the MISE’s platform, while motorists obtain the discount on the purchase price. The contribution is paid directly by the installer to the beneficiary of the conversion through compensation with the price of the system and installation.
