Due to the recent rise in petrol prices, Autogas suppliers in Argentina are foreseeing a significant increase in conversions. Raúl Persoglia, owner of Sifer Gas, which boasts a network of LPG stations and conversion centers in north-eastern Argentina, notes a significant uptick in inquiries and installations, painting a promising picture for the industry's future.

"We see that the number of installations has increased and the inquiries even more," he said.

The businessman commented that the equipment is sold at the same service station and is installed in the company's workshops. The price varies depending on the type of equipment, but is around USD 800. Sifer Gas offers financing that is paid through consumption, therefore "the installation is practically nothing. In the short term it ends up benefiting," noted Persoglia.

Although there are no precise figures regarding the number of vehicles that use LPG as a vehicle fuel in Argentina, it is estimated that there are more than 2,000 in the province of Corrientes, and aproximately 8,000 units in the north-east region.

Persoglia also noted that the majority of Autogas users are individuals who rely on their vehicles for work, including taxi drivers and delivery personnel. “Although there are also individuals who opt for this fuel, especially in an inflationary context like the current one," he added.
